Year In Review

Our 2022 Impact

In 2022, we have been growing transformative power for a world where all women, girls, and gender-expansive people have what they need to thrive.

From Our President & CEO

The Women’s Foundation of Minnesota was founded on investing in systems change, changing the root causes that create inequity.

In 2022, we released a new strategic plan and have begun living into our 7-year vision to partner closely with the state’s diverse women, girls, and gender-expansive people, and set in motion powerful actions that end systemic inequities and drive innovation for gender and racial justice and systems change.

This year, we were energized and inspired by our deep partnerships and convenings with community organizations, the Young Women’s Cabinet and Innovators, cross-sectors leaders in the Executive Council, and advocates, statewide.

In the new year, we will continue we will continue growing a culture of collective care so that all people can thrive.

Community Impact Highlights

As we connect with partners all across the state, we have been reaching out, listening, reflecting, and investing in programs and leaders who are driving movements for change in Minnesota.

Participatory Grantmaking

We put equity into the design of programs through participatory grantmaking that engages individuals most impacted by gender and racial inequity in funding decisions that affect their communities. In 2022, we kicked off participatory grantmaking by welcoming 22 members who joined the Young Women’s Committee and Community Power Committee for grantmaking.

Resource Repro MN

In November, the Women’s Foundation shined a light on one of our four critical impact areas, Holistic Well-being & Reproductive Justice by amplifying the grassroots work of our grantee-partners on the frontlines.

Grant Opportunities

In 2022, we invested over $2 million in community-led solutions by supporting individuals and organizations who know and respond to the diverse needs of their community.

We continue to offer grant opportunities to support our partners across the state.

Advocacy for Policy Change

We advocate for statewide policies that advance safety, economic justice, and holistic well-being and build power with communities for gender and racial justice statewide. In 2022, we testified in support of Paid Family & Medical Leave, creating an Office of Missing & Murdered Black Women & Girls, increased funding for Safe Harbor, Black women’s entrepreneurship, and increased funds to investigate human trafficking, and to expand the Homeless Youth Act and Safe Harbor.

Where We’re Going

Policy Agenda

Building on our historical investment in advocacy, the Women’s Foundation’s 2023 legislative agenda will advance public policy in partnership with young women, partner organizations, and coalitions to advance intersectional equity and increase safety, holistic well-being, and leadership for women, gender-expansive people, and families.
