May 13: WESA Anniversary Event

On May 13, join the Women’s Foundation and partners from across the state to recognize the 10th anniversary of the Women’s Economic Security Act (WESA). WFM and the economics data from the Status of Women & Girls in Minnesota were instrumental in passing the law, which strengthened workplace protections and flexibility for pregnant women and nursing mothers, increased the minimum wage, funding to increase opportunities for women in high-wage and high-demand occupations, and more.

Grow the 2% – A Feminist Giving Day Panel

Did you know less than 2% of philanthropic dollars goes to organizations centering women and girls? This Feminist Giving Day, help us grow that 2% and hear from leaders in the field – Chanda Smith Baker, WFM board chair and host of Conversations with Chanda; Henry Jiménez, WFM trustee and president and CEO of Propel Nonprofits; Nicole Matthews, founding executive director of Minnesota Indian Women’s Sexual Assault Coalition; and J’Mag Karbeah, health equity researcher and reproductive justice advocate from University of Minnesota School of Public Health; moderated by Terri Thao, program director with Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies.

Rupturing the Racial Wealth Gap

On Feb. 28, we hosted Rupturing the Racial Wealth Gap, with Denisse Pachuca from BMO Zero Barriers to Business. Check out the recording featuring three amazing panelists leading wealth-building initiatives in our Minnesota communities.

Status of Women and Girls+ in Minnesota

WFM President & CEO Gloria Perez led a discussion on the comprehensive report with lead researcher Dr. Christina Ewig, director of the Center on Women, Gender and Public Policy at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and Ruth Richardson, CEO, Planned Parenthood North Central States.
