Four Trustees Join Women’s Foundation Board
The Women’s Foundation of Minnesota welcomes four new trustees to its Board. Their three-year terms began with the new fiscal year on April 1.
The Women’s Foundation is a statewide community foundation that invests in ending systemic inequities and driving innovation for gender and racial justice. “As leaders in business, philanthropy, and community, the foundation’s new trustees bring knowledge and expertise to advance the mission and strategic goals of the Women’s Foundation. We are thrilled to welcome them to our committed board of trustees,” said Gloria Perez, President & CEO.
Welcome Our New Trustees:

Kelly Drummer is the President of MIGIZI, a Native-led organization providing a strong circle of support that nurtures the educational, social, economic and cultural development of American Indian youth. Prior to joining MIGIZI, Kelly served as founding President and CEO of the Tiwahe Foundation for seven years. Tiwahe is an American Indian community foundation, which focuses on providing microgrants to American Indian communities, strengthening leadership initiatives, and network building. During her 20 years of philanthropy and nonprofit work, Kelly has worked with the Jewish Community Foundation, The Family Partnership, Headwaters Foundation for Justice, and New Foundations – a Project for Pride in Living program. Kelly currently serves on the Saint Paul Foundation Community Impact Grants Committee, The Family Partnership Board of Directors, and other projects that benefit American Indian women and youth. She holds an M.A. in Philanthropy and Development from St. Mary’s University and a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Minnesota. Kelly currently lives in NE Minneapolis with her husband and two children.

Ambar Hanson is the Executive Director at Mortenson Family Foundation. Her life’s work has been dedicated to promoting and advocating for immigrant communities and communities of color to have equal opportunity and access to higher education, jobs that provide livable wages, health, housing, and safety. Before working in philanthropy, Ambar worked as the Chief External Relations Officer at Hiawatha Academies. Prior to this role, she spent over 10 years advocating for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors through several roles at Esperanza United and the National Latina Network for Healthy Families and Communities. Currently, Ambar serves as a board trustee for the Minnesota Council of Foundations, Latino Economic Development Center, Minnesota Public Radio, and Bigelow Foundation.

Ally Shuman is an experienced financial services leader and community advocate with more than 20 years in wealth management and a deep commitment to advancing opportunities for women and families. She currently serves as Market Director at Robert W. Baird & Co., a role she assumed in January 2026 after being recognized as Baird’s Branch Manager of the Year in 2025. Ally leads with a people-first approach, focusing on talent development, advisor growth, and strong stewardship of resources in service of clients and communities. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with financial advisors and leadership teams to build sustainable practices, foster inclusive cultures, and align strategy with long-term impact. Her professional expertise spans financial leadership, business growth, talent development, and organizational governance. Her community involvement includes volunteer service with Habitat for Humanity, the Dallas Museum of Art, Children’s Medical Center Dallas, Boulder Business and Professional Women of Colorado, and the St. Paul Area Chamber’s Women Professionals Committee. Ally is also an outdoor enthusiast and has been a Sierra Club guide since 2016.

Katherine Waymire is an entrepreneur, operator, and strategic advisor with deep experience in building and scaling consumer product businesses. She is the founder of Talisman Designs, a kitchen tool company she grew over two decades into an award-winning brand in the housewares industry prior to its sale in 2021. Katherine previously worked in marketing at General Mills and Four Seasons, and advised Fortune 500 firms on strategy and innovation. She holds a B.S. from Cornell University and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management. Katherine brings a governance perspective shaped by her experience as a founder and operator with a particular expertise in marketing, competitive positioning, and long-term value creation. She is a committed advocate for expanding the rights and economic opportunities for women and girls in MN. Katherine lives in Minnesota with her husband and has two daughters and one 3-legged cat.
