Statement on ICE in Minneapolis

The Women’s Foundation of Minnesota is heartbroken and outraged by the death of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, shot and killed today by a federal immigration enforcement agent in South Minneapolis. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, and community, who are now coping with unimaginable grief.
This loss is not an isolated tragedy. It is part of a broader and escalating pattern of harm that disproportionately impacts immigrant communities, women, and families of color, communities who already navigate layered systems of fear, surveillance, and vulnerability.
As first women’s foundation in the country, we call for full transparency, accountability, and an independent investigation into this death. Justice requires more than statements—it requires action, systemic change, and an unflinching commitment to human rights.
To the family who lost their daughter, sister, and loved one: we grieve with you.
To the communities experiencing fear and anger: we see you, we believe you, and we are with you.
To our partners on the frontlines: your leadership and courage matter, and we will continue to stand beside you.
The Women’s Foundation of Minnesota remains committed to advancing gender and racial justice, investing in community-led solutions, and advocating for policies that protect—not endanger—the lives of women and families. We will continue to show up with compassion, resources, and resolve.
This is not the Minnesota we accept. This is not the future we are building.
We will not be silent.
