Women’s Foundation of Minnesota Welcomes New Trustee

The Women’s Foundation of Minnesota welcomes a new trustee to its Board. Her three-year term began on April 1, 2019.

Jen Alstad is the president and founder of bswing, a Minneapolis-based design and innovation firm that helps organizations deliver products and services that meet the changing needs of consumers and businesses. bswing focuses on solving problems that affect human health, performance and potential.

bswing works with clients to understand needs of consumers and business, frame problems, design innovative solutions, and create product and service experiences. The firm’s work spans different industry sectors including work for improve children’s learning potential in classrooms through ReadingCorps and MathCorps; improving performance in areas of safety and compliance for international organizations including Trimble, Xata, and Toshiba; and supporting human health through work for organizations including Wolters Kluwer Clinical Health, North Market, the National Institutes of Health, UnitedHealth, and Optum.

Jen is a director at the Allina Health and the Bush Foundation. She has served on boards of directors at the University of Minnesota Foundation and the Girl Scout Council of Greater Minneapolis. She was recognized on the Minnesota (Real) Power 50 in 2013, Diversity in Business Award in 2015 by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts in 2018. She has served as an adjunct faculty member at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. Jen is also a member of the advisory board for the Minnesota Interactive Marketing Association. Jen was named by the Small Business Administration as Minnesota’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2000.
