Roxane Battle Joins the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota

Roxane Battle joined the staff as Vice President of Communications & Strategic Initiatives on October 23.

“Roxane brings a wealth of experience, expertise, wisdom, and leadership to the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota,” said Gloria Perez, President & CEO. “She has a long history of serving Minnesota communities as an Emmy-nominated television journalist, mental health advocate, best-selling book author, and women’s health and equity advocate.”

In this role, Roxane will amplify the impact of the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota (WFM), increase brand awareness, and advance systems change for gender and racial justice. The role manages the overall strategy and implementation for communications, research, and advocacy, including the Young Women’s Initiative of Minnesota.

A journalist and mental health advocate, Roxane Battle is best known for her 20+ years as a Twin Cities TV personality, most notably on NBC-Minneapolis, KARE-11, WCCO-TV, and FOX9. Roxane is also a mental health and health equity advocate, having held executive-level positions inside Fortune 5 UnitedHealth Group, where she appeared as an in-app Influencer with 4 million subscribers. Previously, she was a fundraiser program producer and host at Girl Scouts River Valleys.

As a best-selling author of Pockets of Joy: Deciding to Be Happy, Choosing to Be Free and professional speaker, Roxane gives wellness talks to corporate and community organizations, including recent virtual and live appearances at the Essence Festival of Culture. She serves as a board advisor for the Carlson School of Management’s Global Connect Women’s Advisory board and has presented at Minnesota Carlson’s Women’s Leadership Conference and Executive Education.

Reflecting on her new role, Roxane said: “As a lifelong Minnesotan and storyteller, I’m excited about the possibility of bringing a lifetime of wisdom and expertise to the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota, working to advance systems of change, and amplifying the WFM’s impact across the state and region.”
