Because we invest in changing systems, the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota supports pro-voter efforts to build community power and increase equity in the structures and policies of our governments.
Since 1980, women in the U.S. have voted at higher rates than men in every presidential election. In Minnesota, 79% of women voted in the 2024 general election — 6 percentage points higher than men. Minnesota also led the nation in youth voter turnout in 2024 and had the second-highest overall turnout rate at 76.35%. To strengthen voter access, the state passed the Minnesota Voting Rights Act in 2024 to expand, support, and protect voting rights.
When you vote, consider candidates and policies that represent our communities and hold systems accountable to eliminate barriers, increase access to opportunity, and expand gender and racial justice.
Your vote has power! That’s why WFM created this timely Voter Education Toolkit, with everything you need to vote this November. Read more of the toolkit below or download the PDF version here.
What You Can Do
Protect our democracy by casting your ballot. Here’s how.
- Register to vote. If you’re already registered, fantastic! If not, you can still register on Election Day.
- Do your research! Learn what’s on your ballot.
- Does your vote advance gender and racial justice? Consider the people and polices that will create equity and justice for women, girls, and gender-expansive people. Read more about the policies that make a difference.
- Review candidates’ proposals. Do their plans focus on builiding economic security, safety, health, and leadership across race, ethnicity, gender, and geography? Look up your sample ballot.
- Hold incumbent candidates accountable. How has their commitment and record created change for their neighbors? Look up your representatives and read their legislative updates.
- Be an election judge. Learn about elections and serve your community.
